badass.only thing from my side is that the person in the middle could use some subtle shading and make the wings stand out more.otherwise very good.how long did that take you?

this is really nice the detail is tremendous. The one thing that bothers me is her left wing doesnt have any skin making it a wing like the right wing. Well i hope you understand that:confused:

Andy your shadow work and detail never cease to impress me. Very nice, esp the face below. I would just comment on the girls breasts ... maybe they look a bit flat or off to one side? I dunno. GJ on the rest

I disagree, her breasts look as flat and misshaped as any womans breasts would look wearing a demonic bra of this sort...hehe

Well I did say it was something about it (maybe the perspective on the left breast ... it looks the same as the right while it shouldn't, maybe it should be smaller or flatter or something ... does that make sense?) Anyways just trying to help out (you know a pair of fresh eyes sorta thing)

Thanx for the comments...yeah the anatomy is a little off, thanx for the crits.

the wing is made of magical fire stuff not skin...so she doesn't always have the wings lit up.

I'm adding the inks here in a minute, I changed a few things...added to the costum and added some flat color real quick...let me know what you think.

i made a couple changes...added a little shading in the wing to make it look more like a flame, and added a static effect on the bottom panel...here's a detail on the inks too, if anyone's interested

Hey Andy,

I actually stumbled upon your Pen & Paper gallery yesterday as I was bumming around that site. Today I find you here… how fortuitous. Slick work. I really enjoyed the Honour sketch. It’s too bad that it wasn’t used.

On to this piece.

That fish tank is rad. Is it feeding the fish with the life of that poor guy in the lower right? Creepy. The wings are trying to get lost in the background. The main figure is so set apart from the background by her light tonal value, that the wings fade back because they’re shaded and textured more like the rest of the image. Then again, that could work in the image’s favor. I may be totally off (because I know nothing of the character you’re illustrating), but this is how I’m reading it… This woman was not born with those wings, they came to her. The wings are not a so much a blessing, but more of a curse. Their skeletal, textured form contrasts her smooth skin in such a way that they almost look parasitic. However, she’s come to terms with these wings and their powers. We know this because of her calm expression and pose. Whether she uses her powers for evil (like the life draining fish tank) or for good… we don’t know yet. We hope for good because she’s hot, so we want to like her.

Well, there’s my two cents. Maybe hearing how someone else reads your art will be helpful. I’m curious to hear if I was close at all.

Andrew-thanx for the indepth comments...
yeah, the wings kinda get mixed in with the background...maybe some more contrast would help...I did want the woman's skin to be very white.

as for the origin of the woman...you're close on some of that...the wings are parasitic and she's good

this basically is a new design of a character for a personal project...I ended up adding some elements of the story and setting too... yeah,it's interesting and helpful to hear how you read this illo!
