For people who have freelanced, what are general going rates for non-established artists? I'm talking about just starting out? Are freelanced jobs usually paid per job, or per hour? any info appreciated, thanks.

I was wondering this too. I just got hired to do a cover for this bands CD, but have no idea what to charge. We are suppose to get together and talk price sometime next week.

Check out the current edition of Graphic Arts Guild Pricing and Ethical Guidelines. That should help both of you out. No such thing as a just starting out rate. This book will give you ball park figures. Negociate from there.
