This is a model of The Sanctuary of Asklepios at Kos, an ancient Greek sanctuary. It's based off of archaeological maps of the site that I was able to find, most of which are incomplete. I had to fill in a few blanks here and there based on what I know about Greek architecture during this period.

The model isn't quite finished yet, I need to add a few more details and flourishes. Also, the two small buildings flanking the temple at the top are just placeholders at the moment until I can find more information about them.

Obviously I haven't applied any textures yet, and the lighting right now is just there so that the model isn't under the terrible Maya default lighting. I'm planning to light the scene as though it's dawn with strong yellows, reds, etc.

Sweet. I'm taking a classical art and architecture course in school right now and this seems pretty good. Which parts specifically, did you ad-lib yourself?

king - Thanks, glad to see some people finally noticed this thing. It's finals for me right now, so it's really crunch time. By Friday or so though I bet I can get some wireframes on here. As for adding more detail, that'll have to wait till after finals as well. I pretty much just did enough so far to give a viewer an idea of the spaces involved. I'll probably go into more depth later to make it a portfolio piece.

Tully - The little altar on the second terrace was almost totally made up. I knew the layout of it, but in terms of elevation and the forms, I just did some reading and found some other people's interpretations of it. The positions of a few of the buildings are somewhat conjecture on my part. Different maps showed them in different locations so I just placed them where they seemed to make the most sense based on my information.

One of my primary sources for the plan. As you can see from this plan, I omitted the platform near the third terrace stairs. I ran out of time so I chose something to leave out for now. A lot of the other things on the map are the locations of statues, which I obviously didn't feel like modeling given how general the rest of the scene is. Later on hopefully I can finish those too.
