Hey all, so my buddy ryanoir and I thought it would be a good idea to do some classical training and pretty much get things perfect. Here are some good links were we found some useful information to get our selfs started.

Anyways we got to both get set up first, I think we both need some supplies but we will update with the beginning of our Bargue copies soon.

Ryan: Aweeesome! Post them in your sketchbook for sure but if they are shorter poses then don't think so. Longer poses like as in like 3 hours + would be good but I don't think quick gestures are classical enough :P

Metal fingers: Thanks :D It will be but hella frustrating at same time hah.

Bjoern: Thanks for stopping by and wishing us luck, I have the feeling that this will make me want to pull my hair out. But a trained eye is what I'm going for.


Phew finally got it set up, took a lot of work hah! Kept making stupid mistakes and needing to start over. I'm useing 100lb Strathmore Bristol with vellum finish as Emily G suggested to use in her thread.

Cut the paper down to copy paper size since that is the size I am working at.

Marked my observation point to be around 2-3 feet from my board.

Because you are working from 2d you don't need to observe from a distance or the same spot.
Making sure (when using sight size) that you are always observing from the same spot
is very important when drawing from life. Slight changes in your position will change the view of the object but this does not happen when your working "from the flat" and your drawing and the object are mounted to the same surface.

hey all, sorry for the lack of posting, i havent really been doing classical things, because of time and i've been doing alot of painting ( see my sketchbook)
