pip and miss haversham

did this a while back, i dont really do fantasy type drawings
http://img29.photobucket.com/albums/v86/spudd/infiltrator2.jpg

watercolour painting of a character in a comic strip i invented called "Spudd", hence my name
http://img29.photobucket.com/albums/v86/spudd/prof.jpg

sample comic strips (i don't have very many though) i did a long while ago, like in 1999. Spudd is the pudgy dude, Prof is the dude with the hat. i've changed my drawing style since then, though.

It's hard to crit cartoons.

Personally, they remind me of Sinfest. If you've never read it, don't worry. That isn't a put down by any means, so don't think of it as such.

The characters are mostly original, and exciting.

Now. As for the painting.

The dagger seems a bit small in comparison to the man. More of a pocket knife disguised as a dagger. The contrast is a bit lacking due to the overwhelming majority of black, and darker grey tones.

And a lens flare?! Come on man. I know, I know, we have ALL been there, but with a monotonous picture like that throwing in a lens flare forces the viewer to look right at it and keep looking at it.

Out.

haha yeah the lens flare thing made me kinda laugh, but that was like one of my first tries with photoshop. i was like, "ooh, lens flare". and it wasn't really a painting either, but rather a pencil drawing just all blackened up. thanks, i know it's hard to crit cartoons.

While I was in school learning Adobe After Effects, I made a video titled "Dueling Lens Flares", where I just put together clips of random movies (be it a person talking, a car, a person playing piano) and used the 2 distictive types of Lens Flare effects across them all...it was a riot. Anytime I'm in a movie now too, and I notice it, I always have to comment to the person next to me "ooohh, nice lens flare"...I mean, it was cool the first 50 times...now it seems like you can throw a lens flare in anywhere and people go gaga over it. I'm not referring to the picture, just the comment...
