I got offered a spot to work as a caricaturist / portrait artist during an upcoming city festival. Wouldn't get paid, but they would provide me with a space to work and hang up my portfolio & such. My question is - how much to charge per drawing? I have some experience working at private parties and smaller venues but never an event of this scale (thousands of people in the heart of downtown.)
I checked online and have seen prices ranging from $15 for a small b & w drawing all the way up to $95 for one person in colour. I'd probably be drawing in marker at about 11 x 14" and have something looking like this (5 to 15-minute cartoon-style portaits, though I can do caricatures too) ... I was thinking of charging $25 for b & w drawings and $40 for colour - with $15 for each additional person.
