Aside fom eggbeaters sarcastic comment, I think this is an excellent painting of a figure. You've really thought out where your placing your detail, visual pathways, and the economy of what you've put down. I don't know weather it's intentional, but the hand has become the focal point in this image. Which is nice because it's a very interesting pose for a hand. Anyway, I might be reading into things too much, but I just have to say that my eyes are very pleased by what they see :chug:

if this is an oil piece, i think it looks a little faceted. the beauty of oil paint is its blending properties and the ability to accomplish alot through subtlety. while the figure is nicely rendered and precise(nice hand) i think the color relationships and value range hit you like a sledgehammer. you're definitely getting it, but really concentrate on the subtlety of color and value. for instance, the core shadow running down the cheek at one point is almost as dark as her eyes and upper lip...also edges. i always try to establish a rhythm through soft and hard edges. look at nicolai fetchen, or howard terpning for reference in excellent edge control. nice painting, i cant wait to see more.-c36
