Hello!
This is my first image post here at conceptart.org. This little sketch is the first complete painting I have done digitally. I used a tiny Wacom and and Photoshop CS but maybe I should switch to Painter since I'm just starting out on the whole digital art thing. Any comments are welcome but I am particularly interested in how to make this image more theatrical. Also, if anyone has some pointers on digital painting; I need them!

Seems that the right house is a diferent drawing. Try to change his perspective.
In adition, to give it more tetric sensation put some efects, like fog, "wind" (this can be drawing doing like the fire is moving), and others kinds of efects.More over, change the compostion, other view (other pespective), to looks more cinematrographics.By the way, i think that the colors is good.
So this is my opinion, I hope to help you. Bye.

View wise, have a look at the camera angles used in films, which are often dramatic, looking at a scene from odd angles. As Pichuerca said, your use of colour is good though.

One of the best ways to add more interest to a scene is to tilt your horizon line. Consider maybe doing a worm's eye view rather than a flat view like you currently have. Just make sure that choices like that are motivated by the mood you want for the piece, and not independent of the original concept.

For a first i think it looks pretty good and moody. Though it does look like they had 2 different perspectives the 2 houses :D
With some fog and extra details i would love it :D say some fireflies around the lanterns :D :D

this is good stuff. thanks guys.
i can see what you are saying about the two different perspectives. the little sketch i started from used only one but somewhere along the way it got a little out of control.
ill do another version and post it soon.
feel free to continue commenting on this one. everything helps!
