To go to college and pursue a career in lets say freelance art...does everyone usually have a backup? (ie another job they can fall back on)
becuase i heard that freelance art has no benefits so lets say you get sick or something...you have no medical coverage and all that... and what if your freelance jobs aren't going well like your not making alot of money...do you have another job on the side that brings in a steady stream of money.. and one last question (i promise  sorry if im being annoying) lets say you want to be an artist and you decide as a "back-up" job you'll be a Therapist. Do you go to art scholl first? or pursue the career in therapy then go to art school? Thank you all for reading :D

you know this may or may not be helpful.. I was working full time as an IST for my old company, freelancing for the same company and doing work for other RPG companies out there at the same time. When I went to school I didn't know if I wanted to be an artist.. after a semester of school at MICA I decided to leave, I wasn't learning anything new I was paying money to practice which I fealt was a waste of time. I say do whatever makes you happy for the mean time. life is all about experiences, if you decide you don't like something, change your direction:) That's all from me.
