hey guys. i've been coming to view artwork from this site for about a month now, and never joined. So, I finally decided to register today and start posting with everyone. I hope to get to know some of your better and have a good time learning how to become a better artist. i've never had any formal training besides basic drawing, but i love comics, movies, anime, and video games, so i get all my inspirations from those.
anyways, here is the daily sketch group image that i did for today's topic "the misunderstood troll", and also a couple of pieces that i plan on digitally painting once i purchase a wacom within the next month or so, and i know i'll need a lot of help learning to create art with that. :)

Welcome. Your drawing look pretty good. I especially like the third, nice detail, thi the character facing us seems to have a problem with his right knee. Either he's sitting on the floor or his knee is hyperextended. Anyways keep working and keep posting.:D

HEY! Isn't that a FootSoldier he's fighting.. from Ninja Turtles?? Haha, its looks like one to me!

I love the profile picture of the woman, the hair inparticular is great. Nice edgy line work. The shape/size and location of the nipple are a little off, but maybe thats cos I'm a girl and notice these things. The womans ear is TOO small but if you altered this picture just a bit, it could be truely great picture! I LOVE TOOL!!:D

Keep practising, you have some ability there BUT you need to know REAL anatomy first. Draw more from life and reference eg: photos etc.
Good anatomy knowledge will help all drawing, stylized or not.
The profile female is your strongest piece.

thank you for your replies. i will try to fix that knee before i attempt anything else with that picture. thank you for your tips. i will go ahead and try to draw from photographs and models to study the human anatomy a bit better. it is logical to start realistic so that my fictional characters will look more believable. i am currently doing some concept artwork for a game modification at the moment, so once I am allowed to disclose that information, i will post them here for some opinions and crits.
once again, thank you for taking your time to take a look at my work and give me some good advice. i really really really appreciate it. :D
and yes... TOOL

Photos are ok for reference. But they do not hold a candle to actual models. Cameras tend to flatten things out and ruin lighting.
Some of the best places for human reference are resteraunts and the mall, for gesture sketches. Or your family and friends when you're just sitting around doing nothing.
Your style is interesting, and the work is pretty good. But with ALL artists, myself included, there is always plenty of room for improvement.

I have to chime in here and say "amen" to what Zeb just said. Using photos seems faster, but you're really not learning all that much. Look, look, look, look at everything around you, as he said.
One caveat on the use of 2d reference to learn form is video, or any other case where you get multiple (though still 2d) views of the same form. That can be a great way to learn too, because you can take in the data at your own pace.
I made the same reccomendation to another artist: look at tons of pictures from anatomy books then try to recreate the forms in 2d out of your head (and/or try to fix the anatomy problems in these drawings that way). You'll struggle, but you'll learn a lot more in the end, and one day you won't need the anatomy books or the photo references.
