I'm trying to get these to look female, but a few people have said it looks just like a femine male. Any suggestions/advice?

they're right. umm - read somewhere a few days ago, that "females" usually have:

-bigger eyes than males (heavy eyelashes help a lot)
-lighter noses (yours is too long an too strong)
-a thicker upper lip than bottom lip (havent tried that out yet - not sure if its right)

also the brow seems too close to the eye, it's a bit higher (think of the skull beneath, theres a hole for the eyeballs)

not sure if all is right what i said, hope it helps out a bit.

I agree with what retro says, esp. regarding the length of the nose. Also you could try to make the cheekbones more prominent by a shadow-line across the cheeks, esp. since she's meant to be a fighter (and that makes her lean and tough). Further I think that the space between her lower lip and the chin is too small. Generally female skulls are more rounded and less angular than men's. The longer eyelashes are "convention" and if you look closely at male and female eyes you'll find that men usually have the longer eyelashes.

I destroyed any likeness that you had in your drawing.
But I did do the cliche female overlay.

When I draw women I typically try to adhere to the less is more paradigm. After all no one like to many lines on their face.

well there you go.

I did some fixes:

thanks guys for your tips. Making the nose smaller was one of the main things i think helped. I hope it looks female to more than just me now.

Koryh, looks great, I can't get much out of it cause i'm trying to go for a more realistic feeling.

to be honest i dont see much of a difference, perhaps exaggerating it once would help. koryh's example is great. you should get rid of the bridge of that nose.

It wouldn't take much to get that example of mine to look realistic. I'll be back in 15 minutes and show you.

OK so it was closer to 30 minutes but here you go.
As long as the shapes are there it's not hard to go in any direction you want. Anime painterly photorealistic. Whatever you want. It's just a matter of time after you lay everything in.

Keep up the good work. drawing and painting from life is a great thing to be doing. i wish I could do it more.

Damn koryh good work that was fast !

Ok davi as a modeler i find trouble in modeling female faces all the time i agree with the others here less is often more as far as facial features go but i think there are som simple things your doing that you can look at to change or help your sketch

the first theing that grabs me are the ear dark chin line nose seems to be facing directly at me cause i see both nostril sides though the eyes dont apear to me to be doing the same as with the lips the eyes i think should still be some what furhter aparet and the ftop half otf the head could use a inch or so watch the jaw line square jaws can be atractive (angelie jolie but are difficult to pull off id try flipinfg the image a few times if you havent it may help i messed with it in ps with the liqufy tool and came to a atractive italian looking women fairly easy just watch the heavy lines eye alignment and with and id defently lighten the underlining eyelids if not eliminate them all togethersqaush the bottom lip togetehr a lil make it somewhat less wide than the top

not trying to tear it apart just sometimes it s hard to see some things that pop out to othersespecialy afterr looking at it a while

I think once you look at these things som other things will come to you better

Perhaps thinning the eyebrows a bit and gving her eyelashes would help.
I'm sure color would make a big difference too.

Well I'm no expert...

I learned these basics:

sleeker jawline. testosterone makes your jaw broader and more masculine, hence a sleek jawline makes one more feminine.

Higher cheekbones, less pronounced, makes one more 'ethereal' or 'elfish'.

Big eyes small mouth. (Says it all I think.) Poutier lips...

Smaller nose does it too, but a nose gives character to your... character.

Do you wanna make the epithomy of womanhood or a tough broad?
