Spartan Camp #140 - 50 gestures + Optional "Free choice Anatomy" Study
The aim is to produce 50 gestures by Sunday the 20th of June.
- The gestures can be of anything, human, animal, cavorting capybaras.... You can draw full figures, but you can also go for heads, arms, eyes, or anything specific. All media can be used, both digital or traditional. Coloured or black/white. Gestures are often quick, evocative, sketched poses, but longer studies are also accepted. Imagination or referenced. Clothed or nude. Specifics are up to you! You can always check the previous rounds to get a general idea!
- In addition to this, participants can choose to do an Optional "Free choice anatomy" Study, in any medium.
Additional notes on this weeks’ Optional Study:
Instead of a predetermined subject, you can choose any anatomy-related area, body part, limb, structure, or anatomical feature. Perhaps just because you like a specific subject (skulls are popular!) or to get some exercise in an area you are having trouble with (hands, knees perhaps?) Attempt to learn something new about your topic!
Colour, medium, time frame, any specifics are up to you! Have fun!
50 poses is a challenge, but don't hurry or stress yourself reaching it! Focus on drawing, as practising is the main goal of this exercise.
Critting each other is highly encouraged!! Share constructive criticism, reference and resources!! Let's help each other get better!
Come on soldiers! Flex those muscles!!

Nice to see the links together, I've found some that I didn't now yet :)
By the way, ridiculousposes.com is closed, no new funny poses anymore :(
Erm... I really want to participate this week then I will be busy for 2 weeks.

@Anthis
Thanks for posting the ref links, can always use more of those. Another good one is MJ Ranum's (http://mjranum-stock.deviantart.com/) stock. A couple thousand high res, great pose pictures. His license is also pretty liberal for artists. It's my favorite source.
@Sealegs
Sketches are looking good sealegs. I need to get under the skin soon too. I love those contracted arms, keep it up.
This week I went for feet. I've never really focused on them before, so for now I'm just trying to get a feel for them. G'luck everyone.

Unfortunately I only got only this far. It's fun drawing from real-life or from pictures but I have to focus me on environments for now. Since I want that to be my 'specialization'.
So I got some soldiers and I wanted to add some nice butts to it as 'Free choice anatomy' but sorry ;)
Until next time! Cheers!

i ve gone into faces. Don't know if it counts since my style is sometimes cartoonish. I am on 15 now.

Sealegs - Excellent studies; great three-dimensionality.
eekolite - It's very impressive how you can get such nice details with so few lines. I should study feet too, i always feel clueless when drawing them.
Absorber - Very nice soldiers. I especially like how you captured the drapery.
arri-att - I can tell you have a pretty good feeling for how to draw faces. The woman with the red hair is especially nice.

Sealegs - Very nice studies, cool linework :)
eekolite - good feet so far, can't tell you've never practiced them before (have you come across bridgman he has good studies on feet (that I've seen, not that I've done any myself yet, but am planning to)
Absorber - Good soldier studies, nice sketch style
arri-ah - Nice face studies, good to see some colour
aprat - Lovely sketches, really like the variety (especially like the robed figure with the hands outstretched.
My gestures for this week - been a bit lazy on the studies lately, just having a rest from drawing whilst I recharge my batteries (although the new CHOW topic is enticing)

Nothing from me I'm afraid - I'll lump my gestures with the rest for next week. Also note the deadline for next exercise is slightly extended (july 4th).
Sealegs; How do you like Bammes? Have not seen much of it, but it looks very promising to me. You handled those rotating arms very well. Tough! But that kind of '3d' thinking really seems to pay off. Follow up with a couple on your own to practice this! May have said that before. I envy those clean studies.
eekolite; Nice feet! Very organic and playful studies. Used your own foot for reference? Some of these are exceptionally strong, but there are some uncomfortable ones in there as well. I think that's actually a good sign. Shows this is a tough exercise, and you're doing a good job improving. Great stuff!
Absorber; Great figures. Strong sense of purpose to the posing. Army gear can be tough in my experience, perhaps because of the folds. You may want to look into those feet. They may seem like a detail, but when you think about it they can really affect the rest of the pose.
arri-att; You wont hear me criticize the cartoonishness. I'm not an expert on style. Very expressive heads though, lots of character. You're doing a nice job 'sculpting' the head with cross-hatching. you may want to look into the direction of those lines though. It usually pays of to 'follow the form' with your lines. Can really add to the shape. Something to think about, perhaps! Great stuff, I like how you explore style and medium.
aprat; Wonderful stuff, great variety. I was just doing some boxers myself! Think those value sketches are improving vastly though. Especially the female nude study (4th scan, very subtle work on the back and elbow! Figure in the dark dress/cloak is good too, strong folds.
Angel Intheuk; Would love to see a new CHow from you! Some nice posemaniacs there. Note how some of the more loose ones, with few lines, also seem to be most accurate. Perhaps they were more focused? Or less forced? I think for example the 3rd one is very believable, despite the daring perspective.

eekolite-Nice feet! kudos again for picking a hard subject! many of these are really nice!
Absorber-Cool soldiers, ahh yess environments, cool.
Arri-Att-Nice heads,cool colors!
AngelInTheUK- Nice gesutres, I think some of them could use a little more interior lines, cause they are flattening out a bit... cool heads, this guy has character :)
Aprat Nice studies, lots o variety and lengths of poses...I especially like that guy in the robe, and that head with the strong lighting, great!
Anthis-
BAMMES is the BEST!, everything u need on the structure of anatomy, his books are in German but it doesnt matter, the art is so easy to study! its so great if u want to go a little deeper than loomis.... Go download some of his books in pdf...
here is some of his stuff
http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=119441
EDIT: These are the books that are easy to find in PDF
Gottfried Bammes - Der Nackte Mensch (The Naked Human)
Gottfried Bammes - Wir zeichnen den Menschen (We Draw Humans)
- yeah i need to do more imagination/memory drawings-its easy to forget what u just learned if u dont test yourself from memory...
