I did some concepts to try to boarden my portfolio. As much as i've been trying to break into concept design, i feel like i spent way too much time on fine art and fantasy illustration.

Here are a few i did with the world of dues ex by ion storm(HIRE ME) in my mind....Hope you enjoy.

also i did an ork

I reached the point of frustration on the face and gave up. I pretty much also work in 1:1. painter has some weird anti alias issues with resizing, so i haven't branched out too much with my ratios. This completely limited the control and detail in the face, so...i appolgize for both the excuse and the bad face.

the 4th one totally rocks my world.....I want to see it come to life and eat some babies or something.....it'd be sweet in a game or a movie......awesome work man.

The other designs are cool too, but man, that 4th one....just something about it....so great.

keep it up!

Definetly that 4th strikes a chord, Davi, because I thought the same as nouse. There's aggresion but pain also in that poor creature. And the muscular definition is just wonderful.

1st: Too flat. The design itself is sort of boring and (i'm not sure if you did this on purpose) but the knees are too low on the legs.

2nd: LIttle better than the first one, however, it's still pretty stagnant. I'm thinking that if that guy is shooting a flamethrower, his face should be like a "burn mother f'er" expression.

3rd: Getting there. I'm having problems with the muscles in that creature. They feel really squishy. I think that this one could be more sucessful if the muscles were more sleek. This would make the creature more dangerous. The bottom of the mouth in the upper right hand corner is kinda hard to make out. Might think about drawing some 360's of the head. That could also strengthen your portfolio.

4th: This is the best out of the five. It's beleivable because it has a simple design. Good job.

5th: Actually this one is pretty good too. Although, what could make this better is baving the ork in another position besides a flat frontal. Running, avoiding an arrow, jumping, swinging his cleaver...just some suggestions.

All in all pretty good work. Keep it at and i'm sure that someone will employ you.

I particularly liked the fourth one as well. I think we dissected something like this in high school. I went through my old textbooks and found this picture of the same animal.

people usually want to see spectacular stuff when going through a folio, i'd say, and these aren't as eye catching as they could be. generally postures could be more interesting. presentation does half of the job. here's some bitching on each of them:
1 - just what i said there, quite uninteresting. a standing figure floating in white space. conceptually i find it uninteresting, except for the shoulder parts. they remind me of 5th element though (probably just me)
2 - tripods are something i've been wandering about lately too, but regarding this one- same stuff as the previous one, it's right inbetween something, dunno. what's with that line separating the torso?
3 - this one has a more interesting pose, also like the bottom head view. maybe add some pointers on what those things are. makes it look classy
4 - probably the best painted one. also very odd, and probably my fav, even though it reminds of a pe... yes. lyon did a great job on it too.
5 - ork. nothing on it that'd make you say 'oh, cool, i wish i'd remembered that', if you know what i mean. the mess in the back doesn't work that well with the char either.

... then again, the portfolio count of mine is around... zero

cheers

i agree with all your pointers lung

and the line on the torso of the second picture was suppose to be like a 'gut'.. guess i guess it doesn't as that

and your right, the ork is completely boring, i should take another stab at it.
