This is some really cool work, the mech suites are so detailed.

Calle_
February 25th, 2004, 09:36 AM
Really like that colored robot suit, looks fantasy like.
But i think the non-colored looks like they are going to fall apart. Maybe do less detail to make it look more future like. Though they got to be really sweet once colored! :D

Overall: Cool style loike it alot, keep it up ^^

thanks for your remarks

Though they got to be really sweet once colored!
I'm not sure to really understand
what you mean
i keep it in mind :p

-> Morlok
Thanks :) yes it's really detailed.
Some friends think it's too heavy
or too much complicated, but for the
moment it's my style.
It's closer than illustration style more
than sketches.

All thoses sketches are done directly
to the paper with a roller, i begin from
one element and move to other place
progressing puting details without
really knowing how it will look like at
the final. Eraser was not in my
vocabulary during those sketches.
:p

Its a slang compliment. It means they will look desireable.

So, yes, they look sweet.

Thanks for translating, i had understood,
i was joking, many want the sketches to
be coloured after being cleaned and
inked, i'll do it :)

"can imports time that that will take":D

i'm very happy to get compliments here,
i'll often update this topic to have again
opinion.

Thanks Torey,
I will post my recent work regularly.
Really fun my colour :) ?
I do not know if it is the word, but in any
case that took 5 hours maximum to me
to lay that and I hope that I will go
more quickly for the others because if
not I will ever have finished before
Christmas.:(

Awesome, man. I love the colored piece.

March 1st, 2004, 04:18 PM
Not bad, but I think on those last colored ones, you need to add more contrast, because it doesn't feel like a light source is hitting those mechs. Especially since mech suits are metal? They would have very strong shine on them... those seem kinda dull... but none-the-less GREAT WORK! :D

I 'll do another one like that ;)

->Sodomizer
You're right about the lighting especially
on the last one on which we can see the
whole mechanism behind him.
I'll fix that on the next ones.

Thanks for your comments !

I think that i am in love!!! Your art is so great, i like your detail you seem so commited, i mean it looks like you work so hard on these peices.

J'ai peur ce im dans l'amour avec votre art, son si détaillé ! désolé pour mon français pauvre ! <3 <3 :jawdrop:

i really like these... i dont think its too detailed, you use a lot of varying line weight and good composition to direct the eye where it should go.. these feel like they were meant to be colored.. you should post in the new media coloring book if you dont already..

Wow, I am sincerely impressed with your artwork. Your english isn't all that bad either, sadly some of my friends who are NATIVE to the United States speak it worse :dur: .

I see a very large quantity of robot and 'mech artworks on this site and so far very few of them were able to inspire me. Many of them felt so alike to other people's designs. I have never seen a style like the one you use and I do very much like the massive level of detail. From the process you described it sounds as though you do your robot concepts the same way I used to do my psychedellic concepts, and that process is a very good one as it allows unhampered creative flow.

There is a large feeling of being "alive" in your designs and the components are all so beleivable in a fantasy sort of way. I honestly wish I could have computer game mechs and robots of a style like that one, they would be such a welcome change. I think that they would benefit from variation in line weight to suggest depth, and you seem to have started doing that in your more recent images.

Your digital designs are much more, for lack of a better word, "full" feeling. And the full-color image you showed was absolutely wonderful.

From a mechanic's point of view (yes, I happen to know machines very well) I also applaud your design. Most of what I can discern seems workable enough and doesn't obviously defy any mechanical rules or laws of physics, which can tend to happen when a person designs a robot or 'mech. You seem to have a laudable knowledge of various mechanical elements and it seems that you know just where to put things like screws, bolts, and gears where they fit in correctly and bring out a very pleasant mecha style. The feel of these machines seems almost like they are anachronisms, machines of a modern design from an era where people built things as art instead of a product. The colored one, because of the metals that are suggested in it's construction, tend to support this feeling. The only obvious problem I see is that in the full-color image, the suit doesn't seem to have any clearly visible joints or places of rotation/movement, it all seems too solid and inflexible.

Overall: high level of creative flow, good composition, very professional.

man harneble, its awsome to see more of your work. your a freaking patern/mecha genious with this stuff. How did the machine flesh challenge go btw? anyways some critiques about it. Id say work on construction somewhat rather than going in strait for the details. Its ok to move around the drawing for shure, but alot of these mechs would probably fall appart if assembled (there are quite a few that would work very well). I really love your patern pieces, really shined through on your entry in the machine flesh (seemed like celtic influences a bit). Awsome stuff man.(I voted for yours and antropus's entries btw)

Thanks a lot CCCP-DeLux for your words !
i keep in mind the remarks you have done about the suit of the woman,
Thanks to have a good feeling of the art, i'm happy to read some words about it, even some words i had'nt though about like: The feel of these machines seems almost like they are anachronisms, machines of a modern design from an era where people built things as art instead of a product
You remark about the "full colored version" made me think i should post more colored versions, i'm not feeling confortable in colour application that in drawing and it should be a good reason to post more color works.

I honestly wish I could have computer game mechs and robots of a style like that one, they would be such a welcome change.

lol :D i would like also :) :perv:

Thanks to have voted in the MachineFlesh Challenge ! i have no news at all about it ... I don't know when we will receive result. Perhaps the team of Ballistic is preparing something for the siggraph, i don't know. Btw a big good thanks for your words whcih make me glad !
