I would like to create my own custom brushes I want to create Rockwell, Rembrandt type brushes and variants but have no idea how to go about it. I've googled for some rembrandt pictures and wonder if it would be possible to create my brushes from the photo itself if yes please can someone explain how I can do it I am new to corel painter and willing to learn as much as I can from the Pros.

many thanks in advance

I advise you to start by looking at the Help Files>Customizing>Brushes. Spend some time (hours, days) changing the settings of brushes to see how they are affected. If you want to create a specific type of brush, find a default one that comes closest and modify that, i.e. for a Rembrant brush pick an impasto oil and play with the settings. Images of paintings won't help to create a brush, at least not in the way you are thinking.

There are many brush tutorials here: http://homepage.mac.com/pixlart/painter.htm

I also stress that you should learn what the already existing brushes do before going off and creating new ones. It helps you create a better brush that suits your needs.

Thank you both for your reply and for the links it is much appreciated. I am experimenting with painter 11 at the moment and was just wondering if it was possible to create such type brushes. I guess I am running before I can walk I am just excited to work with painter.
