This is my first post and I don't really know what I'm doing as far as getting my images to show up on this message board. So... bare with me.
The project I'm working on is a art direction/self promotional project through my college aimed at turning the movie 'The Big Lebowski' into an animated series. The following images ( if this works ) should be what I've developed so far in this project. I'm curious what the concept world will think.

looks pretty good. It would be nice to see an animated series of the Big Lebowski.

The concept of Walter is really good, definately has the same likeness. Same goes for Lebowski and his servant (i dont know his name). I think the servant should be a bit more husky though.

The dude and donnie are decent but don't have enough likeness though.

I think the likenesses are all pretty good considering they have to be cartooninized.... cartoonated... whatever. The linework could be adjusted, thick and thin lines contrasted. And different values and maybe some shading in the color. I think most cartoons have at least one or two values per color.

The actor in the wheelchair (David Huddleston) is my dad's cousin. Aren't I cool?

imho you got the overall feeling pretty good... especially what you did with john goodman's character was a good choice... but I'd rework the concepts of the 'steve buscemi'-character and the dude...

those are just suggestions ... for the 'buscemi' - give him a lil sick look exarragate the size of the eyes a bit .. for the dude - he's normally waering a long (!) morning coat; also his hair shows much of his character in the film, he seems to have never ever seen a comb, you should try to make that clear even in the comic...

That bastard stole my name!!.....even though he was born about 30 years before me. Are you a Huddleston too or different last name?
Anyway good choice in movie. I'd say work on the Dude and Donnie a bit more, but the other characters are pretty good. Plz post any changes. Just remember...

Nice stuff Toonboy.
This is one of my favorite movies.
You've got pretty good likenesses here, but there's always room for improvement. I'm not sure how much you're trying to go with really accurate / caricatured likenesses, but if you are here's a tip: humans have an amazing ability to recognize faces, with very little information. You need to find out what that information is for the face in question. Flip through TV guide or a magazine or something and notice how you can recognize celebrities even though their faces are like an eighth of an inch tall, or take a digital image of a celebrity and reduce it to a ridiculously small number of pixels (I'm talking like 16x16 or 8x8 pixels). You'll be amazed that you can still recognize the person. Now do that with your celeb models here, or look at their pictures from really far away (or zoom out on your monitor). Move as far back as you have to until they stop looking like who they are, then move back in (or zoom in and out on your monitor). This will help give you the keys to what makes them so recognizable. You'll find that, not surprisingly, it has a lot to do with the larger forms on the face - the shape of the head, eye sockets, chin, etc.

I'll definitely watch the series!
