Hello, I'm a 16-teen-year old who is really unsure about what art college to go to. I'd like to do Concept Art, or Illustration [probably not illustration], or Fine art.
I don't know any really good places to go to, though.
I first wanted to go to the Academy of Art University of San Francisco... but it kinda sucks. I only wanted to go because of the location, haha. It's my dream to live there and do art.
Right now I'm thinking about Lcad or Otis.
Any thoughts about those schools, or other sugesstions...?

and also, I have a terrible GPA. It's probably like, gosh, a 2.4 or something. Probably worse. Will that seriously mess me up in the future, you know, when I'm trying to get into college?

Anyway, help is greatly appreciated. Like, seriously. Any comment will help me out. Art is my dream, I'm very very serious about it.

When I talked to art school counselors, most of them said that GPA does play a role in admissions because it shows, if nothing else, your ability to work hard and complete a curriculum. Art schools do not want kids who have don't have the work ethic to complete their coursework, because when these kids drop out after a year or two, they cost the school $$.

However if you're 16, that means you have 2 more years of high school, which gives you plenty of time to raise your GPA.

Alright, that makes sense. Thanyou.
I feel a little better knowing that I can make up for my failures in the next two years, haha.

As long as your GPA is higher than a 2.5 you should be fine. I had a 2.8, I think, I was okay. Most art colleges like to see a 2.5 or higher GPA, so that's why I say this. (Although I have been rejected by an art college, UArts in Philly, because my GPA was lower than 3.0. Those stuck-up assholes.)

Hey, Sodaminx! You have plenty of time to get your gpa up. I recently just got mine above a 3.0 X_x;; And I don't know where you live, but Ringling College of Art and Design is a great place [so i've heard] for illustration. Its in Sarasota, Florida. There's also another college called Savannah College of Art and Design [SCAD for short] in Savannah, Georgia. It also has other locations, another being in Atlanta, Georgia. Hope this helped!
