Hope you like it; lately I'm spending more and more time with natural media (but still like to add few touches in PS).
This one is A4 in size and from the idea to finish= 5 hrs.

I think it is a beautiful image, it reminds me of the XIX century symbolist painters.

What did you use, some kind of oily pencils?

Thanks Cassandra!

It's oil pastels.

great work. looks like you've taken some real care with the lighting. i'm always curious about process and purpose. if you get a chance, i'd love to hear what the project was for, and a few words on your approach. did you use a live model or reference images?

an interesting choice you made was to limit the dark values on the character. so in the eye, where i'd expect a dark blue or black value, you've used an intense middle-blue. the end result is to give the character a strange, almost super natural catagory. he almost looks as if he's made from marble or some other un-fleshlike material.

anyway, nice work. it looks ready for a novel cover!

-cheers

**-on second examination, you've shaded the eye with a dark blue, though still not as dark as i'd expect to see.

Thanks WoodenWorkhorse!

This piece was not part of any particular project (still not working  ); it was more of an urge to draw (in between playing with Playstation 2 and some other stuff, he he).
About the approach and reference, I used some of my own anatomy studies (still learning) that I always keep handy, although I do use photographs (only the ones I take) every now and then.

C&C is welcome...
