Matt Dixon - Man, that freaking rocks! Nice overall piece.
Morr - I like that alot. Looks like something at a Delaware beach. If you did lose that file to Photoshop, I think that there may be a way to retrieve the file. Look for the tmp file and pull it into Photoshop, it may just work, but I have never tried it with Photoshop before. Good luck.

I wanted to do this in painter, but i did too much work in photoshop with it, i may go back and do the samething again just in painter, i need to practice it. Matt Dixon what program do you use to color your images in, and also do you sketch and scan or just draw it within the program?

Amerasu - That looks really smooth, and it's got great colors. The perspective is off, though - you should be able to see the tops the buildings if you want them to be consistent with the background.

Thanks Railboy, I'm not positive what you mean though. Could you help me? I've uploaded the pic with perspective lines and my sketch so you can see what I was going on. I'd like to fix it :) Perspective lines + sketch here (http://amerasu.randomleft.com/ca/TEST_feb23_04_desert_outpos.jpg)

No image to show, but I thought I'd throw some crits in this time...
eljay - very nice atmosphere you got there! someone already mentioned the perspective, so i won't repeat that. not too fond of the gradient in the sky, but overall very eyepleasing.
Matt Smith - real hot desert! i love the vibrant red and yellow, but hate the bright blue with it (as a matter of personal taste, i try to stay away from using more than 2 primary colors) I like your design of building too. they look very sweet and innocent. to me. nice work.
fresh27 - a bit blurry maybe? :) especially in contrast with the two people up there. don't be afraiid to mix blur/sharp stuff wildly
Amerasu - nice scene, with some minor remarks: it looks more like a new building , freshly paint and varnished. the broken windows imply a semi-abandoned outpost, so i'd expect to see more scratches 'n' dirt there. I like the windyness of the scene too, but it doesn't seem to bother the guy standing outside. maybe a different pose would add to the effect. Last thig is the buildings seem to be floating slightly over the soiil.. take your dropshadow real dark and up close to the building to fix that. Keep it up! (do i sound like a real teacher yet?)
Barti89 - could use some more contrast.. a bright sun liike that drops a dark and sharp shadow.
toinjoints - love it! nothing to add
railboy - funny AND good! and conceptual, if you wanna be semantic about it.
DocBoom - welcome! and great entry too.
Calle - it's pretty obvious which part ;) did you overpaint it, or just painted from it? nice warm rock-colors though.
Carnifex - moody and cold. a bit blurry, but nice. it makes me happy actually. wee!
Matt Dixon - awesome... i pretty much had the same design in mind (yea we all saw the same tattooine shots - j/k ) ..amazing work.
Morr - nice building, not too fond of the sky - methinks it should be as windy as the dunes.. get some whirl action in there :) gg

Going for a sort of underground desert outpost (thinking of coober pedy). I'm not too happy with the desert.

Sure thing
Here's how it is next to how I think it should be:
http://www.atomicagedog.com/art/dailysketch/crit4.jpg http://www.atomicagedog.com/art/dailysketch/crit5.jpg
The perspective on the buildings is flawless, but I think your mountains belong to a different point of view than the buildings. They start above the horizon line that the buildings adhere to, or at least appear to. Maybe it's just your coloring.
Do you see what I mean? Hope this helps...

Now, I know you’ve all been waiting your entire lives to see this! And here it is: my first ever digital painting. This will hopefully kick off my long and famous career as a digital concept artist. Actually, I think I’m happier with my initial thumbnail sketch. That’s why it’s still up there in the corner.

That piece is just marvelous. Really striking linework and the palette is nice and rich. Great work.
Matt Dixon is just outright ridiculous. Excellent work.
