We're scouting for talented and reliable pencillers and colourists for Inception Strategies, a social comics company based in Australia. Examples of previous comics by Inception Strategies are available here (http://www.inceptionstrategies.com/comics.htm).

Rates are pro and are negotiated individually. We can be relied on to make quick and regular payment as long as work is also submitted and completed in a timely manner.

We are looking for artists who are happy to work to a brief with high attention to detail, working in photo-realistic style. The art direction is set and artists who work with us should be able to imitate this style as much as they can. Comics are 24 pages long (including covers) and the artist normally does the front and back cover in the same style and standard as the internal pages.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

Pencilers:
* Tight, clean pencils with lots of attention to detail finished digitally.
* Must be able to draw diverse character faces (and emotions), normal bodies, hands and detailed backgrounds; reference material will be provided.
* Ability to draw characters consistently with accurate perspectives and proportions.
* Able to draw people from diverse ethnicities. Specifically, you need to be able to draw Aboriginal Australian and Torres Strait Islander people (We provide references and specific guidance around this).

Colourists:
* High/Bright colour intensity colourists/painters who can incorporate the pencils into shading, tone, textures and can integrate photo references seamlessly into the art (eg. posters or license plates are normally inserted by the colourist).
* You must be able to colour people well with dark skin tones.

REQUIREMENTS

- Must be able to provide at least two references for comics related work.
- Must be happy to make (sometimes) many edits, as much as it takes to achieve the high-quality result we prefer.
- Must be able to deliver work regularly and submit pages that are well-executed and consistent in standard.
- Must be communicative and easily contacted when needed.

PROCESS

Send me a link to your website/gallery to averil[dot]sg[at]gmail[dot]com and work samples must included sequential art (no attachments, please).

I do not make the final hiring decision, but if I feel your work is what we are looking for I'll put you on the short list for further discussion. I'll reply to those short-listed to give you further information to make sure you know about our processes and how we could work together to create comics.

NOTE: Please do not contact Inception Strategies directly as it would just get re-directed back to me and overload the email server unnecessarily.

Thank you, and we look forward to hearing from you.
