Games Developer – UI/Web Artist (in house) – London, United Kingdom
Position: UI/Web Artist (in-house)
Duration: 3 month contract (potential for longer)
Location: London, United Kingdom
Salary: £DOE
Firefly Studios are a leading developer of strategy computer games. We are looking for a UI designer/artist to work in our London studio with our design and programming teams to produce well designed, usable and technically efficient UI designs for our games currently in development and the web elements that will form an integral part of those games. This is a great role for an enthusiastic hard working individual who relishes the challenge of being responsible for designing and creating the UI for a multi-million selling game franchise. Games experience is not necessary but the ability to prove you can do the job is a must. The required candidate will also be required to work on other 2D art tasks, such as marketing support, as and when needed.
Important: This is an in-house position at our London studio. Candidates who wish to work out of house will not be considered.
Responsibilities
Design compelling screens, menus, buttons, icons and cursors in the style of the game that are easy to understand and use
Work closely with design and technology teams to conceptualize and prototype interface functionality
Apply and maintain a consistent art style throughout the entire project interface
Communicate designs in a technical manner for programmer implementation
Other 2D artistic tasks as and when needed
Required Skills
Strong graphic design skills
Awareness of current trends in web and UI design
Strong knowledge of web design principles
Ability to understand technical implementations and limitations
Ability to balance artistic vision with needs of the game
Ability to take direction
Understanding of the game development process
Knowledge of cross browser compatibility issues
Proactive work ethic
Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Illustrator
Flash
Strong understanding of HTML/CSS
Strong command of written and spoken English
Other skills that would be good:
Scaleform experience
Adobe AfterEffects
Adobe Premiere
3DS Max/Maya
Good all round 2D artistic ability
