Spent last night trying out some painting techniques here in photoshop. Got a book which came with a cd that contained traditional paint brushes and decided to use them with some ref pictures I found online.

So here they are. C&C appreaciated.

Added: I just want to make clear that these paintings were not created from scratch, but more painted over. In no way am I promoting that I created these pieces myself by individual strokes, or the orthodox way of creating a digital painting. The creation of these paintings were for tests and trail purposes only and do not take full credit of any of the work.

Oh man I love the rendering and the movement of light and form in the woman piece! I LOVE IT

The flower is very nice and its traditional style works well and convincing. I can almost see the build up of the paint peeling away from the canvas!

Keep it up! Keep using this style and try to adapt it into a piece you would normaly generate.

Thanks for the reply. It's kind of weird though, because in a way I feel "bad" because their not my own pictures, so I can't take the credit for making it from scratch. I don't know if I am being to harsh or not. I know that everyone needs to use reference for their pictures for drawings, but then again copying or "stealing" someone elses work, reference wise is never good. I think I'm going to take my own photos though, but use these as practice and building up on my technique. Thanks again though for the comment.

By the way, anyone else think the female one looks a bit filter'ish? No filters were used except for some embossing and a texture effect.

Giacomo, I agree with you that the female one does appear to look "filtered". Might go over it again, probably gotta soften some of the embossing out. Thanks for poinitng it out though.
