This is not so much about the idea of a local group so much as heads up / call for participation.
The Towson Arts Collective has a weekly open figure drawing session on Wednesdays, 6:30 to 9:30. Its only ten bucks to drop in, or less if you pay in advance for multiple sessions.
The space is located under the Greene Turtle in Towson, (Just south on York Road from the traffic circle and Towson Town Center). It is a warm, clean, and well-lit space, and quite large. Unfortunately, it often seems too large because not enough people come.
This is a great opportunity for anyone who does not currently have a regular life drawing venue, or would like to beef up their life drawing schedule. Myself, not being in school and living in PA, would have to drive down into the city or even DC for weekly life drawing, if it weren't for TAC. The models are generally quite good, many are in fact excellent, taking their craft very seriously.
This is not a class, it is an open, volunteer-monitored session, and has a very casual atmosphere. You can work at your own pace and apply whatever methods or mediums you currently study.
If you are within even an hour of Towson this is well worth the investment, please, they are in great need of a reliable group of regulars....lets see some of that CA commitment!
Even if you're not interested yourself, pass this on to friends, co-workers, students, classmates...
