beetle/giantsquid hybrid

This is a hybrid of a beetle and a giant squid for my character design class. I recently finished coloring it in photoshop. I've already been told that the drop shadow doesnt work well, so Ill be getting rid of that, among other things. This is still generally the finished product though.

Mmm....Cthuhlulicious. Nice integration. The final coloring is a bit dark. Overall I think it works for the mood of the creature, it just makes it a bit hard to pick out the details.

I'd have kept the white paper look cause there are still some contrasting edges that don't make it sit well on the grey background.

Also I might add another person there, maybe on the ground, for more scale. Took me a while to notice the figure in its tentacle-thing~

Love the texture on the head. Definitely great work :)
