Wassup everyone. I'm new here, and I'm REALLY loving this forum. The amount of art info stored up here is ridiculous. I've been just surfin around for hours and I can't get over it. "like a little kid in a candy store" Anyway, umm, to give a little info about myself. I live in Maryland, right near D.C. I'm 18 years old, taking one drawing class in a community college. But I hope to be going to art school next fall. Umm, I guess that's it. Here's my work

crits please

I'm havin some pretty strong problems with facial features. So on the bus ride home from class today, I did some sketches in my book. I did the monk guy and the fat man at home though. A friend of mine talked me into using those non photo blue pencils, so I gave em a shot. I like em.

Interesting pose on the light-sabre chick. That one would be good finished I think.

Well, I think the stuff looks good, tho I suppose they need some work.

1st pic: lightsabers seem a little off, not quite straight, plus the pose seems a little odd, with the way her arms are (try putting your arms like that, doesn't really feel like a good combat position), and her legs seem a bit off as well, her right leg seems like it should be a little thicker (or left thinner) due to distance from viewer. Pose is nice though, in the sense that it's fairly dynamic

2nd pics: faces do need some work, but they aren't bad, skulls seem like they could stand to be a little taller, but really nothing horrible about em.

Overall I'd say your stuff looks pretty good, just keep working and keep posting.

Hey, you're stuff looks pretty neat. About the faces: they actually look pretty good, but if you want to get better probably the best thing to do is draw from life if you arn't already. At the verry least grab a few pics from google, or get one of your buds to stare off into space for a bit. I've found that my skills have gotten quite a bit better now that I've started, but I think you're probably fed up with my (little) lecture. Keep drawing.

thanks everyone. Yeah I have just about no experience drawing from life, and I'm kinda upset at myself for not having done it before, but since coming to this forum a couple of days ago, life drawing is all I've been doing. I'm trying to just stop drawing from my imagination and just focus on learning the figure, doing life drawings and gesure drawings and stuff like that for a while. I appreciate you all taking the time to critique my work.

that chick with the lightsabers better be careful when she goes to attack someone from that position, she might be down an arm.
