i like the skull style in her head

1 acronym: LOL!
but I have to nitpick and say that beveling and embossing the blood on the chainsaw was a bad idea. Maybe if it wasn't so sharp?

I agree on the bevel blood on the chainsaw nitpicking. but the blood on the ground is absolute KILLER :chainsaw:

Looks great. I am glad that went back to the purple hair, awesome. I would still like to see the walls and ceiling splattered with blood, though! ;)
I would definately like to follow your progress on another thread again, it was cool to watch a simple line art drawing turn into a twisted, sick, wicked piece of work.
Thanks for sharing your talent!

nice to see it finally finished! great work, I love the reflections on the pooled blood

I really like it. The blood is great. It is very cool to see the whole process.
(insert nitpick)
I think I would have liked a hard shadow on the ground and on her dress to match the hard look of the whole image. I think I would also like more contrast in the eyes, more of the big pupil childlike effect. my $.02
Overall a very clean image. love it.

Makes you wonder what this little girl has done lol.

Sorry for the somewhat late reply..
Thanks to all of you for the nice comments :D I really appreciate :D
dfacto, Evil: You're right about the beveling of the blood on the chainsaw, I should reduce/soften it a bit.. :)
Thrash: I agree for the shadows on the dress, but for the eyes I wanted to give her a weird look with these clear eyes, even the pupil is not black.. :) to make them look dead/insane :) the big pupil would have masked too much of the iris.. :)
WalkingDead: as soon as I get some inspiration :)
Al Ian: lol :D

I like the blood the way it is. Gives it nice graphical quality, I think it fits the style. Cool image.

MAD SKILLZ....
I enjoyed the approach from concept to completion - thank God you made that chainsaw as big as here...gives it an eeeveeel super human strength.
Your photoshop work is very impressive and I'd love to know what you did to create the blood highlights and shadows (e.g. fx - soft emboss, 2 pixel, etc.).
Cheers and look forward to your next posting!

first of all thank you for all your comments :) now lets answer the questions:
pvrhye: no, I painted them in photoshop :)
redehlert: thanks :) here are the settings I used.. i'm posting a screenshot of the settings, it's easier than translating everything :)

hey drumwhore,
thanks for the post - i gave it a go and really liked the outcome. i switched the global lighting to be upper left (135°) and liked that as well.
okay, follow up - your reflection of the chainsaw - care to convey that tasty treat? i have my ideas - duplicated layer flipped vertical and set to soft light with the blood spatter serving as a mask for the chainsaw, but i'm curious none-the-less.
double check my notes, but i made a 'bloody english' version for those of us that don't speak the language. drumwhore - let me know if i got these accurate or not.
cheers!

redehlert: hmm I gave you the settings for the blood on the floor :) maybe you were talking about the one on the chainsaw? let me know if you want me to post them too :)
About the reflection of the chainsaw, you're almost right :) I first duplicated the pic, merged all the layers of the chainsaw together (lineart, color, blades, blood etc), then I copied/pasted it in the original pic, flip vertical, then created the mask of the blood on the floor and contracted it by a few pixels (something like 6-7) and blurred it several times (to avoid getting reflections on the curved borders of the blood drops). then I just lowered the opacity to 64% and that's it :)
And yes, you got the settings right :) thanks for the translation :) and those macOS dialogs look way better than the windows ones.. :D

Hey Drumwhore,
The settings for the floor is perfectly cool...that was what I was most interested in.
Reflections - thanks for that bit of info! I like the contraction bit...a subtle, yet important step. When you blur, are you using the Gaussian? I'm curious because you stated you blurred it several times, but that wouldn't be necessary if you used the Gaussian filter. I'm just speculating here....
I wonder what would happen if you kept the opacity at 100%, but changed the layer format to "Soft Light" as opposed to "Normal" and then duplicated the layer for additional depth effects....
Translation - no problem....and yes, Macs rock it.
Are you working on anything else right now?
Cheers!

it's true that I could have used the gaussian blur, but as far as I can remember I blurred it a few times :) in fact I often do this, blur then ctrl+f to repeat last filter, then ctrl+z if its too blurry, and that's it :) gaussian blur is more precise, but in this case approximation worked fine :)
now about the reflection: I just tried the soft light thing, but the metallic parts of the chainsaw would have been almost as red as the reflected blood..
and for the moment i'm working on a piece for an online contest.. dont know if i'm allowed to post the link here, its for another cg forum :) check PM :)

wow very creepy. the only thing i can see wrong with it is the blood on the chainsaw is the wrong colour. blood on a shiny metalic survice would be alot red-er. it needs to be alot brighter. right now its darker than the red on the dress, which is wrong because blood on cloth goes brownish very fast.
anyway, great job :) thumbs up to you, sir :D

awsome peice, I like the background and the blood on the ground.
 One thing though, have you posted this before a few months ago? I have seen this peice or at least something with uncanny similarity a few months ago. Just curious. Nice work!

thanks for your comments :D
Clandestine_IX: I posted it in february, then got some new comments on april so it was on top of the list again :) I guess you saw the same pic :)
Cartoonfox: you're right about the color.. Maybe i'll rework someday the blood on the dress (and add some texture to it btw) but I think the blood on the chainsaw will look weird if it has a brighter color.. I think i'll have to try it znyway :)
