conte crayons & the hurt

so.. when i use contre crayons i get this shooting pain up my spine and my teeth feel like they are going to explode esp on newsprint.
i tried powder and wearing rubber gloves, but thats like wearing a condom.
shame i will never be able to dabble in this medium due to the PAIN. pretty messed up huh?

some conte crayons are softer than others...I don't remember if they have H and B levels like graphite pencils, but I remember some feel like you're drawing with a rock while others feel more like a chalk pastel.

They do have levels...

I mostly use the soft ones that feel like butter across the page...

Is it the same feeling when you pull a kneaded eraser apart, and where it broke in 2 its all fluffy, then you press it down. That makes me cringe.
