Anyone know the process of darkening these lines, was it started with pencil or pen how are the lines so fine and black? http://nefar007.deviantart.com/art/eros-160014487

Thanks for the response, but I know he vaguely says what tools he used, but I needed more elaboration....maybe if anyone has had a similar experience and used the same tools, specifically with the pen and ink part.. Did he use a nib pen or a ready made ink pen or a brush

Translation for the less abbreviation-savvy:
I think I used an HB mechanical pencil on this.
Tweaked in Photoshop CS2.
Doesn't look like any ink was involved.

These pieces are from Leinil Yu, I was wondering if anyone knew how he kept the original pencil lines in the the colored piece. Also has anyone ever used a light box before and how difficult was the process as opposed to straight up inking and water coloring right on top of the pencils? Does anyone know the comic book design process? I know some people use light box and some don't.

You sound too focused on the tools and the medium. A good artist can create a masterpiece with a broken crayon on a piece of toiletpaper. Learn to draw properly first, then start to think about the tricks of rendering. That said, to keep the lineart, put it as the top layer with the mode on that layer set to "multiply" (in photoshop).
