i have a question...i can admit that im an amateur but im very very very eager to learn... i really love sketching...and maybe you guys can critique my drawings sometime if i post it ... my question is.. how the hell did this guy do this?? i know most you here are professional..but its the first time i saw this drawn/ painted in some ordinary paper.... or is it just digitally made??? or maybe im just missing a lot of techniques in drawing/painting?? is this for real? sorry if this post seems like im just a person who lives in a cave

He used photoshop, it's digitally painted on top of an actual photo.

That's actually a great image to reference for a beginner because it's a fantastic example of mixing digital and traditional media.

ohh and i just realized now that..the folds of the paper doesnt seem to conflict with the drawing..so i guess its fake..or is it real?? if its done digitally..is it possible to do it handdrawn??

Andrew uses a program called Painter (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corel_painter), which was originally designed to emulate the look of traditional media. That image was "hand drawn," in that all the marks were made by hand, using a digital tablet and stylus as an input device, rather than being the result of any sort of filters or modeling, and then superimposed over a scan or photograph of the notebook paper. A similar image could have been made using acrylic paint or gouache on an actual piece of notebook paper, yes. If your question is whether something like the paper itself could be painted using traditional media, the answer is yes, google "trompe l'oeil painting."
