Here is something I did for an art competition here.

And before anyone else says it, yes, inspired by Mullin's cowboys.

Here is a detail:

looks really good, but the way that his feet(especially his left one) dissappear into his coat bothers me. It flattens his left boot it seems

hey NIm

this looks pretty good man

a few things:

this piece feels to me like its 6o% done--thats just my viewpoint as an outside observer

i like teh red boot blend--but dont think its working 100%, but i think its cool you tried it--maybe just give the leg more def inside the coat to show the form?

i feel like theres too much white in this pic, which makes it feel unfinished

a BG, even if it was blurred, or impressionistic would add alot i think, and help to put this character in a context. right now youve hinted at a BG, but kept it flat

when i look at teh close up of the face i think"man this guy can draw"

what are you up to? are you in school or graduated? i wish i saw more stuff from you on the boards. keep up the good work dude

Thanks guys.

The red was sort of an experiment, the more I look at it, the more I agree it's not really working.

Ty - thanks, your crits mean a lot to me.

Environments are my bane; I've been doing a lot (or trying to) in my sketchbooks, I'll try to post some sometime and get some feedback.

I'm 21, still in school, working as an illustrator for the university's web-course development office. Mostly icons and clipart type stuff but it's fun, I get to mess with lots of things, audio, video, flash etc.

I really enjoy that picture. The only crit I have has already been mentioned: the leg just seemingly goes into the cloth. If you added a little light to it it would be really good.

I like your style, I love your colours, and you did really good with the hand poses, making them quite realistic.
