WHY? WHY NOT! THERE ARE FEW TO NONE RULES'S HERE

1: Draw and paint with any medium
2: no paintover's (be origanal) use your own eye n' brush strokes!!
3: oh yeah imagination "is" key as long as you can back it up with a photo reference.....in case question arise from your pic.

critique's Are most welcomend.....but...... to the images that artist produce ONLY!!!!! we as a community want to grow......not to be told how too grow........

OH YEAH DAILY!!!!!!!:lounge::drinkup::carnifex::mittenbop: :mittenbop::mittenbop: ok then....not daily!!!!

Isn't there a thread like this in the Fine Art section?

Either way, I should join in on something like this.

j.s. sabastian
April 25th, 2010, 12:26 PM
nope as far as i can tell theres no official draw from reference daily thread
but theres some almosts. besides "Fine art is objective\subjective" so either you you took a lot of time rendering an image or took some ACE hardware 1gallon piant buckets and destroyed a canvas(with your emotions) then called it art...

P.S. DON'T TALK...... DRAW\PAINT......this isn't the official my opinion on threads thread!!(hummmm that's catchie....)

Okay...I'm gathering that we HAVE to draw from reference to be in here, but no cheating with overpaint/overlay/etc. Sounds reasonable.

I'm game, as long as any approach is cool. Should we post the ref, too (if it's not too "porn," because I do use a huge collection of body types and stuff as ref, some of which is NOT cool as a photo necessarily.

To the good, this sounds like a good place to show some experimental rough pieces and sketches that don't fit in the other threads easily.

j.s. sabastian
April 25th, 2010, 02:30 PM
thanks ILAEKAE!!!!!
any approach is defenitly cool
THE MAIN THING IS TO BE HONEST......don't post some finalized perfection....and say oh this only took me 30min
If it took three days to draw it than say so...
although it's suposed to be daily.....most things daily around here aren't so daily:P

you don't need to post your ref but if you wanna show off how good you can duplicate an image......sure

REF FROM PORN....COOOLLLL.... POSTING PORN NOT SO COOL.......NO NUDITY PLEASE
IT'S ACUALLY MORE CHALLANGING TO DRAW A CLOTHED FIGURE......

No, no. From what I can see the Fine Art section is basically the forum's area for studies.

A few of the stickied threads there include:

Color Theory Discussion
Master Copy Workshop
The OFFICIAL Nude Life Figure Drawing Thread
the life painting Thread.

I would have thought a vague "draw from reference" thread was already there.

Actually, I'm not even sure I understand all of what you typed there.

Anyway, I'll be back!

Sounds like a good idea to post the ref image as well, no? I dunno, it's more interesting to see it, to compare...

Also, isn't Crimson Daggers the same thing?

edit : oops no opinions needed, only draw and not talk hummm sorry. Yet posting the ref sounds quite important but you guys just do what you want.
Oh and i didn't draw either :D

there is a Daily Sketch group
http://www.conceptart.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=39
in the community activities section that William B. Hand has been running for almost five years. It's not reference required, but it is daily.

you might want to put this thread in the Community activities pages
or I f you would like me to move it there I certainly can rather than in the lounge.

Kudos to anyone who can actually manange to sit down and draw every day. Wish I had the discipline.

Drunk lounge posting? Anyway, I don't think that nudity should be discouraged, especially because a large majority of representational artwork (and art in general) features nudity.

Well, if boobies are not verboten, I drew all but the frame and the one panel in the lower left; all from reference and all within an 11 hour span earlier today. Qualify? She's wearing panties.

And where better to post drunk than the lounge? (I drew the lower left panel from ref too, but on an earlier day. (Recycling. It's good for the bottle. It's good for the can.)).

I'm not discouraging nudity as far as artistic growth...obviously i just feel that we can be more challenged drawing from a clothed individual.....i start a thread and make simple request for the establishment of that thread.......
if you wanna talk fine.......as an artist i'd rather draw.....

Also, the reference won't hotlink, but I guess you don't want it for this thread anyway.

And people, a 'no-nude' rule, is no big deal. Plenty of you are drawing nekkid women regardless, so just get on with ok?

Great idea for a thread J.s. I'll try to get my scanner working and post up some sketches.
Would master studies also be ok?

By the way, about the nudity thing; the only reason you shouldn't say it's not allowed is because there so much to learn from drawing a nude figure and for a lot of us still learning anatomy need to do a lot of studies from reference of that. Just keep that idea in mind.

Yeah though gotta get my scanner working and I'll defiantly be putting some stuff up here

ok.......to make it clear-er......you can ref from a nude figure.......and when i implied nude i was more or less talking about what ileakee was talking about. what some might call pornographic nudity..........i'm not talking about per say the nude models in an art class. they are so differren't...i just thought we could do without it.....and another thing.....i started this thread with the hopes to motivate myself and others.......granted the start of the thread was wishy washy (my fault)
i can't delete or remove posts here so do what you want i guess........i just had an idea of what this thread might be like.......drawing something from referance daily...

p.s i said daily..... it's not a requirement....it's not like your gonna get kicked out for not drawing daily.
