Final Fantasy XIII Anyone?

Hay I was wondering If any one out there has picked up Final Fantasy XIII yet and would be willing to answer some questions, and give a review. I haven't picked up a final fantasy title since the two game-boy ones Tactics 1 and 2 which were both great btw. But reading the reviews makes me a bit iffie??

This game is a bit weird. When the game is moving at a nice pace, it's cool. The battle system is fun enough to make progressing enjoyable. But mission to mission the enemy difficulty spikes huge it seems, especially around the middle. Which would'nt be such a big deal to me, if there were some towns or exploration to have fun with inbetween. But there's no choice but to keep running these narrow corridors grinding levels far too often just in order to progress at all.

The character development systems also does'nt reward enough points to be able to make a decent team. So many bosses require very specific skillsets to beat. Sicne the game so often chooses your party for you, you're stuck grinding again for hours just to be able to get the party you're stuck with the same abilities that the rest of the characters have.

The most impressive thing about it i think is the soundtrack. There are some really great tracks on there, this one inparticular is a favorite of mine.

The characters are often way too mellodramatic though.. and without those towns to explore it always feels to me like the game is moving too fast for you to get any emotional investment in it.

Thanks for the Reply Interceptor, I decided on getting the game a few weeks ago so after i got it took it home tried it and about 10mins into the game it crashes due to shitty programming so apparently I have to get a new xbox now. But the graphics are beautiful and the music was great, so i guess i can hold off for a few months and work on drawing more

I just went back to Final Fantasy XII instead after playing XIII for a while, was too boring imo and the characters are so shallow and overdone.
