The response to this job post was overwhelming! You guys are amazing talents. After a great deal of debate we were able to narrow the list down to two candidates and put out offers to them. If for any reason that doesnt work out or if we have more needs in the future we won't hesitate to reach out to the ConceptArt community. Thanks again for being such a great resource of talent!!!
Were an indie game studio looking to reboot a game we published back in 93. You can see it here on the wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_Seed and the current game site is here http://ironseed.com.
What we need:
We need 1 or 2 artists for a long term project (24-36 months). We'll be needing 1-2 ink or pencil sketches per month and we've got a budget of 150-200 per month to spend on the art. I'd love to spend more but that's an indie title for you. ...our budget for the whole game clocks in around 20k, and the concept art is half that. This is a labor of love. If you love old school space opera's then this is the project for you.
Initially we need concepts for the Ironseed ship itself, both internally and externally (cargo, engineering, etc), to help establish the feel of the game interfaces and to help drive the 3D models we'll be building for everything. Once we have the mockups for the interfaces complete we'll start on the ships for the other species you encounter as well as sketches for the aliens themselves.
If we find a single artists capable of handling both alien and ship/tech then we'll stick with just one. If not we'll split the budget between two artists, likely alternating month to month.
How far along are we:
We're doing code proof-of-concepts at the moment with the game core and scripting engine and have already written 10's of thousands of lines of code in preparation for building the game itself.
