View Full Version : unable to paint above the background layer

just as the tittle says im unable to paint above the background layer im fairly new to painter its more then likely and error on my part but idk where to got o fix it. any help appreciated.

It would be useful to know which version of Painter. Painter X has a bug in the Preserve Transparency checkbox in the Layers Palette. Sometimes you need to check it then uncheck it to make sure it is not activated. If it is activated you cannot paint on transparency. If you are using Painter 11, make sure it is not checked.

some time ago and I had a problem with painter x
need to uninstall then install again
and now happens to me but when I close painter and open it again fix
sometimes helps to turn off and on preserve transparency couple of times

thanks joeparis it seemed to be that but if it dose it agian im sure ill have to reinstall.

It also depends on what brush you use. If you're using the Sargent or any brushes that uses a plug in method it won't paint above the canvas layer iirc.
