Hello fellow animators on ConceptArt. My name is Sennett and I'm fully involved with everything animation. I'm going to use this thread as a reservoir for all my animation studies and I hope others will help me by critiquing my work.

I love 2D and 3D animation. I started first creating my own animations with Flash Macromedia, as it was called back then. Only fairly recently have I become very serious about learning how to properly animate. I'm in the process of learning Maya as well to create 3D animation. I plan to create a demo reel of my work when I have enough material.

I hope to meet more animators through this forum so please feel free to comment and critique my work so we can help one another become better animators.

This is a link to my newly formed Sketchbook if you'd like to take a look at some of my other work.

Here is a 2D pencil test I created in Flash. It's based on the reading I'm doing from Richard William's Animator's Survival Kit.

This is my version of the bouncing ball in Maya. I am constantly looking to improve my work so critiques are appreciated and there will be updated submissions in the future.

This is a pencil test of a character's head turn. I'm going to try and use a smear technique to animate the head turn next time.

The walk cycle looks like you traced it right out of the book. Now that you have done one with his art, create a really simple character and make that one walk.

As for the head turn, you might want to have a slow in and a slow out for that. Also, are you doing it on 2's? It seems really fast. If you have that on 1s right now, you might want to set it to 2s and repost it. I think it will read a lot better.

The problem with Williams' basic outlines in the Survival kit is that it lacks breakdowns and inbetweens. The walk animation therefore has no weight or real movement because all the body movement is in these frames you need to put in. Try it with the breakdowns and then inbetweens and see what happens.

The same goes for your facial animation. It's too fast because there's not enough frames to give us a sense of the movement. Also, some ease in/out on the turn could help as well.

Keep at it!
