My daughter wants to go into computer animation; she applied to Ringling and received an acceptance notice. After noticing that the acceptance said FIne Arts major, I called the school. There was a mistake on her application and she had applied to the wrong major.

Now, she recieved a letter saying that she was rejected from animation (shat she truely wants), but was accepted into all other programs. She did not apply to many schools, and the other choices - Montclair and Ramapo (State schoold in NJ) - have limited programs.

My question as a Mom is - what do I tell her to do? Go to Ringling and study Foundations (first year seems similar in all majors) and try to reapply to other schools or switch majors there (the later seems difficult). Go study abroad next year (something she wanted anyway), and reapply. Or simply go to a lesser program and plan to do a masters? any thoughts?

Ringling's CA program is kept pretty separate from the rest of the school, and changing major into the the CA program is nearly impossible (though the reverse is fairly easy, as is going from GAD to CA, as both are in the CA department).

I don't meant to sound rude, but this is a program with an acceptance rate comparable to some Ivy league schools. Surely you had some back up plan in place if she didn't get accepted?
