Hello all, I'm wondering if someone could give me a good recommendation for an airbrush. Nothing real expensive but adequate to paint a maquette effectively.

Thanks!

Cheapest workshorse of airbrushes is the Pashe Model H. It is a single action airbrush which means you cannot control paint flow with your finger, you press down and air/paint comes out. It will spray almost anything and cleans easily. The Dual acrion Pashe is a step up and will be a lot more versitale as you can press down to start air then pull back with your finger to control how much paint comes out. The dual action is a necessity when paintnig organic surfaces IMO. It is a little more money but worth it. The only other brushes I used were dual action Iwata airbrushes which were awesom but I believe they are kinda expensive.

The second important thing is to get a really good compressor which is quiet (this really dos matter after you have been working for an hour and the headache has started or if you want to paint late and you live in an apartment : ) and lets you regulate air pressure. Turning down the pressure allows you to create broken color effects on the skin which help sell a translucent texture. In some cases you will spend more on the compressor than the airbrush!

I hope this helps!
