Hi all!

I've been visiting this forum since the day it began, but was always too scared of the talent to post anything! Anyways, I thought I'd finally say hello and share some of my stuff.

I'm currently in Grad Skool at the Academy of Art College studying animation! School doesn't leave much time for drawing (which I think is funny) or modeling, but here's a character I'm working on right now named Alex.

Das concept art:

He's probably going to be the main character for a short film I'm working on with a friend of mine. I was concerned whether or not fur was going to be possible, so I'm building a test version of his head right now to check it out:

It's WIP right now, I'll post more in the 3d section when I finish it.

Just want to say what an inspiration this place has been, and to thank everyone here who's kind enough to share their art and experience. Y'all rock! :D

Wow, awesome work so far =D
I love that fur..its freaking awesome!
Except it kinda looks like he just has a hole for a nose...?

I like the character design, but from the sketches it looks to me like his face would be bare skin, and pretty much featureless (which I think is cool). Not that the fur on the model doesn't look good. It's actually very impressive! Just thought I'd put in my two cents and vote for a bare face. I think it would make the character more interesting, and it would probably be easier to animate too, right? Plus, there's plenty of room for fur on top of his head and on his arms and legs.

But anyway, yeah, that texture looks awesome. Thanks for finally sharing! Keep it up.

Thanks guys!

Amphex- Yeah, I haven't textured his nose yet, so it's just matte black right now. Need to get on that...

Injun- That's a cool idea! I never thought of him hairless, or maybe with just a layer of peach fuzz. Probably won't happen though, I'd have to rebuild the model and texuture it, and I don't really have the time. Doh!
