Been working heavly on my painting, utilizing others advice on my last piece. Sooo, whats missing? What needs to be improved? Helpful crits are appreciated,.
Done with Photoshop 7 & Painter 8 together, about 16 hours. No 3D or photomanip was used.
Dusso was the inspiration, I like his style as well as Feng Zhu, Mullins, Henrik, with all thier combined abilities it would be way difficult to produce nearly any works without referencing the greats for sure. I appreciate comments, this piece was difficult to say the least.

Thanks

Thanks! Yes, I did sketch it (on the computer), as far as digital Efx, do you mean filters? nope. no filters, but as stated above, I used mostly Painter 8's brushes. Photoshop was used for its initial layout with the gradation bucket, Painter's gradation bucket really sucks IMO. Painter doesn't quite "have it all together" and Photoshop is like a missing puzzle piece in its abilities.

WK, this is your best post so far.

It is a bit mnore simple than your other stuff but, the idea is strong and well executed.

you could resize the image to a bigger resolution, and begin really working thoose details.

looks great, altrough I think the image would be alot more interesting iff youadded a more nomad style, like bags of food and water hanging from underneath the floating island

i dont think there is a fast and easyway down to get water and food everyday, so you need to store it without waising to much living room
so you hang them underneath your island and hang a net over it to keep the birdies away.

good luck, looks killer

WK, really nice landscape. I did a small paintover. What I think is that the island is not getting enough focus. I added some more contrast to it and saturation, lenghtened the canvas and add on to the mountain at the top right to direct to the island. I thought some more waterfalls would help the islands stand out from behind. I like the subtle colour varietion in your background. I'm not sure if any of this is helping but take what you think is working, Really good work.

ShawnYe, excellent paintover (I like those much more than verbal directions) good suggestions. Though I wouldn't have the reflection so bright off the Geosphere (most you can get right now are treated canvas panels) and the lighting is a diffused type. I really dig the extra waterfalls in the back. So if you don't mind I'll go ahead and add in the extras on my original.

Thanks again, makes posting worth posting!
