hey,

I've joined concept art several months ago, but I've never been active on this forum. I've also attempted to make a sketchbook on this forum a while ago, but I never actually kept on to it. Now I want to make a new sketchbook to make up for my old one.

Like most artists on this forum, I also really want to improve. I'm 18 and I've been drawing for as long as I can remember. I don't go to an art school but I'm taking some art classes.

What I desperately want is for someone to give me their opinion, and help me by critiquing my drawings.

Help? :^^;:

I'm going to add more drawings later.

Heya, nice start to your sketchbook :)

As far as your portraits go, there are some minor faults but that'll become better the more you practice, the main thing is to use reference to draw from. What I wanted to comment on was the girl in the last sketch, the one in the dress. I like that one best for now, she's really lovely. Watch the proportions though, her hands are a bit short, and her fists are small, they should be as big as her face is. I took the liberty and did a bit of a paintover to illustrate what I mean, I hope you don't mind :)

What I recommend is to take an anatomy book and start from there, preferably Loomis or Bridgman, if you didn't already. Studying that will save you a lot of trouble in the future.

Anyways, as I already said, nice start and don't give up :)

Thank you guys for the feedback. I was kind of afraid I wasn't going to get an answer from anyone.

The Whistler: I will definitely keep hand proportions in mind. I didn't know that her arm was too short until you showed me. I downloaded all of Loomis' books a couple months back but I've never had the motivation to read them. I can say that this is my biggest problem.I'll work on this. But anyway thank you for your time and advice, I am certainly going to take it into consideration.

I have yet to draw again today. I'll post them later on tonight :)

So to keep this thread flowing, I'm going to post some of my old stuff and a digital sketch I'm sort of working on.

-the third one is longer but had to get cut off cause my scanner is too small.

-Im not a hardcore twilight fan. In fact, I ditched that obsession a while ago. Dont judge me ! Lol but anyway. I sketched Bella on photoshop last night. This btw is my first attempt at sketching a portrait digitally. What do you think? I still want to keep working on this.
