What I do like about this family, and other provocative people is they're all saying what many people think already, and they're being blunt about it.

Anyone familiar with the movie "the invention of lying"? Well they're kind of like that. Instead of spreading hate with their family in privacy, they're being honest and upfront of what condescending assholes they are.

I do think they represent a mentality that many Americans hold. They're a little extreme but making them the face of anti-Semitism, homophobia, etc. doesn't change the fact that many people really are homophobic, or many people do think low of soldiers, or some Christians do think jewish people are not going to heaven, etc. etc.

Jake, do you really think it's that easy, that they haven't been confronted with that argument thousands of times? Of course they think Jesus/God supports them, that's the whole point. They are never silenced by arguments like this, they have chapter and verse to back themselves up.

I don't think it's much about honesty but more along the lines lack of self control. It's one thing to discuss or share opinions, it's another to parade in front of someone's funeral...making it into a family event. Just because someone out there might be thinking the same thing, doesn't justify using religion to act like a complete self-fish ass. Besides they aren't winning anybody over, there's probably a reason why they had to run their own church seperately. Nobody really wants to associate with them.
