I got a set of acrylic colors from my girlfriend as a valentines gift, shes tryin to make me stop drawing those evil roughshaped-warmachines by going straight to my heart and giving me things. Im afraid it might work!

Fortunately though I have no clue how to use the paint Ive now aquired, so I most probably wont change my ways.

But If you guys n gals could show me the basics, perhaps I'd give it a try.

I really have no clue where to start. I got the paper, and some color. thats it. And some odd thinner type stuff. Whats what?! how does it work! omg im wacom-damaged to the very core.

Any help appreciated!

I guess its not the help youve been looking for, but now you have to get yourself some brushes and paint :P Its nothing very special about acrylic colors i think. you can dilute em with water so you get nice shades. and get yourself some thick paper, like 200g

you can also use a toothbrush to get some nice self-made airbrushing-effects ^^

Im no expert at this as if prefer conventional drawing, but thats about all, i guess. ;)

Get some medium that prolongs drying time... acrylics dry way too fast to do any decent painting with them.

take care with yellow and red they are pretty transparant. you need lots of layers to get it back to yellow again.
