this is cool, dude. Is the front tire we can see supposed to be flat? i like how the car is plaid. Mabye you should add more shadows and highlights? good work.

Cocofuppa

Cheers JJ, and heres an old illustration from the start of my course, it was a black n white pen drawing, but i just though id see what it looked like in colour. Also wanted to test out takin pics of work, which didnt turn out well cos i need daylight and a tripod :P
http://www.mi7shogun.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/websitesketches/A-Team.jpg
Oh btw, the illustration was to show "how i was late for college one morning" :P

http://www.mi7shogun.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/websitesketches/Uma.jpg
Its all from a photo-ref, but the important thing im tryin to do is train myself to have a good eye for detail and get the likeness as good as poss, also an exercise in pencils(i dont do enuff :()

Cocofuppa
March 19th, 2004, 03:48 PM

hey dude, your stuff is really improving. your b/w stuff is AWSOME, but you need to work on your color some....your form is really good, and the black van is THE SHIT, reminds of those monty python cartoons :) That portait of uma thurman is really good, shes a hottie. i like the stylized hair, but an issue i see is her righ *our left* eye. the lid needs to be just a tad higher so she doesnt look like she has a lazy eye. Celeb portraits are hard because everyone knows if its wrong. Very nice, youve got a shitload of talent and your going in the right direction. great work!

p.s. - with that boxer pic i wouldnt have noticed any problems with it if it hadnt been for your little side note, the finished guy getting hit is very good. the anatomy is spot-on

Cocofuppa
March 21st, 2004, 05:54 AM
cheers bud, i noticed the thing with umas eye after i finished it, but i may go bk and fix it in Photoshop or summit :P

Cocofuppa
March 21st, 2004, 02:17 PM
On the same theme of kill bill(college stuff), I had to do another drawing of uma. Yes its from a photo, and i dont giv a fook if u think its cheating, so this is a big fo to all those ppl who think that using photo ref is evil. Its a learning curve and I gotta start sumwhere. It saves time and thats all i care about atm soo.. :P
http://www.mi7shogun.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/websitesketches/Uma2%20copy.jpg
I will shut up now lol :D

Managed to nick a few pieces bk from college today. 2 self portraits (both A2), and done in thickass-straight-from-tube mofo-acrylics :D And an update on that ad i was doing. I wuldnt mind sum comments on the ad, cos its quite an important thing im doing atm.

Gonna b doing another few Uma sketches for college. This one is like 15% done, and is very light atm as its done in 2H pencil. From a photo obviously, but im wanting to show my ability to draw here, not my anatomical knowledge.

Dude, your creativity and style are off the wall. I bet you don't even WALK in straight lines. Do you have any process work? Or do you just spit out what's in your head and work it till it's magic? I was just curious because I really liked where you took the walkman and showed it before colors. It reminded me a lot of Paul Pope's work (the only true American manga artist).

Crap, now I feel like I have to back that statement up. It's a little on the longish side, but if you look him up and want to know what I think, just ask.

Later Days

Cocofuppa
April 24th, 2004, 05:15 AM
Cheers for the comments mr.right. I tend to just draw whatever im feelin at the time, just scribble onto the paper as a form of expression rather than trying to draw a good picture. I dont really have any 1 process, but for those walkman drawings, i dipped string into indian ink, and tried to draw the walkman from life. I then scanned the line work in, make a duplicate layer of it(set mode to multiply) and then paint any colours in between those 2 layers.

And oh yeh, that paul pope dude has a nice style goin on, very bright colours, like pure magenta/clashing colours with the loose linework etc, so i kinda see where u got it from.

pff :P need beer.. after writing this!

Did a couple of wee paintings after bein inspired by fredflickstones tiny paintings and el coros demos. The indian dude was from a b/w photo on national geographic, so i had to make up the colour myself. Its prolly the best thing ive done in a while imo in my sketchbook.

Ok, did this small sketch (oringinally it was supposed to be daddy cool, Clint Eastwood), and turned it into a bizarre styled hair thing with gradients n stuff. Original drawing was all 2H, so i had to use an extra multiply layer cos of the crap scanning.

After checkin fred flicks colour theory thingymajig, i thought id try again at colour. I intended to paint fruit from my head, but its turned out to be just a round "thing" instead. The colours i wanted were to make it like a kind of mid-day light, where the colours aren't as intense.

LOL, stop being pussies! Anyway i just passed my illustration course with a merit pass so im chuffed atm. Hey man, about the web page design, it's way awesome. A few suggestions though:

Can you get the red box around the item for sale (jacket) to be the same pink/salmon(?) color as the girl?
Can you get the green boxes above the item to change every time a new item is clicked on? There doesn't have to be any rhyme or reason to each design, the boxes can have the same design in different places, I just think that right now the area is static... or wait, I think I understand,... So you click on womenswear and several options appear in the green boxes? And then you click on the option you want? Perhaps a rollover that will switch from green and white pic of item to a full color photo?

Looks good. Solid design mate. (oh, and what size is it?)

Cocofuppa
June 25th, 2004, 02:35 PM
Thnx mr.right, the design is just a rough idea, so i havnt worked out exactly how i want it to work yet, but u pretty much hit the nail on the head on how i was wanting it to work :D Heres another 2 things for the same project. www.retailjunky.com wants a web makeover, and asked me to show em some visuals. Sooo if they like em then i mite get work. The thing is, their website SUCKS atm, so no matter how many illustrations are on it, it will still SUCK, and im no webdesigner, i just know how to design things in general so i made a few alternatives for them!

Any help appreciated folks :D Cheers.
