Is there a county fair? How about a Ren Faire type thing? I imagine people would love their portrait in costume.

Oh, maybe a flea market? I saw a guy doing charcoal portraits once.

I've been thinking about this too... I'm just wondering about the legality of setting up in the park or on a street corner and making money from it. Do you need a permit if it's just in a small town?

There's usually a permit if you're doing it freelance. They should be cheap though.

However, there's also some unspoken "turf" rules between artists in areas. You may have to ask around.

wow permits...well i guess ima go old school unless its like 5 dollars and like a block away to get.
anyways i like the fair thing and even the mall except that might be a little hard, but thanks for the suggestions guys.

For the fair, mall or Ren fair thing you definitely need to go through their office I'm thinking. If you're just doing it like downtown, in the park, etc. I wouldn't worry about a permit - in that case I'd let them ask you about it. There are also a ton of Farmer's Markets starting this time of year.
