Here's the first cover to my comic that I scanned a couple of weeks ago. I've done revisions since then, but the overall painting is the same. The problem I'm having is how to make the tube look like a tube. What can I do to really give it a convincing tube effect. Any paintover's would be greatly appreciated. Thanx.

hmm.. maybe it's too late for this, but you could have taken refraction into account to deform a bit the characters..
2nd option is to add reflections on the tube.. but the problem will be how to make them look like reflections and not vertical bars :)
good luck! :)

The easiest fix I see is to end the water before the top of the page and let it show some perspective - an elipse maybe with little distortions or splashes for more interest. Then continue the glass up off the page. That should make it obvious, but also you should add some space on the outside edges where there isnt blue water, just glass, to show how thick the tube's glass is.

I dont know how this can help, but some bubbles mabie, to give the look that he is in the water and not in a ray of light.

I would probably make a top and bottom of the tube. Like, show some of the mechinism at the top and bottom. Then you could couple that with light reflections on the glass and that would make it look more tubular. I think anyway. Good luck it looks really cool.
