two color sketches i made this weekend:

Well the first one is pretty plain and simple, so no crits there..but in the second one, I know your probably going for a hazy, foggy environment, but I really think the character should have more contrast from his surroundings.

Hmm nice idea of the barad-dur idea. I don't know what time you are refering to in LOTR as it mostly speaks of lot's and lot's of peirods of time... But i believe barad-dur should be a lot more bigger and eye catchy such for the envoirment as what Tulkin speaks a lot about in his books.

amphex: this is what i mainly heard from other forums' feedback as well.
i was going for very diffuse light but ended up with not enough contrast...
haiku: i thought her to stand on ephel duath, around cirith ungol, where sam had his first look above mordor.
i omitted the orodruin, too... silly me.
for looking across half of mordor, the tower is quite large i think, given the fact that it is mostly hidden in the mysterious hazyness around it.
