Internships

Forgive me if this is in the wrong section, or has been done in other threads. I am looking for a source (site, thread, etc.) in ConceptArt or else, that lists student internships or where other people talk about their experiences in searching + working as an intern.

I've been thinking about it and aside from the getting-a-bit-of-cash-so-I-can-pay-rent/fees/food the main reason I'd like an internship is because looking at the industry from the outside it's all a bit mysterious as to how things in there work.

Essentially I'd like to have someone to guide me through the the initial passes of the "Mountains of Art Jobs" so I don't die in an avalanche or by bandits or something.

Does anyone else feel a similar way?

There are lots of other threads talking about where to look for jobs, so just use some of those lists, contact the companies directly and ask if they will give you an internship. Let them know if you are offering to work for free or if you have a minimum salary requirement (hint: free is more likely to get you in the door). Expect to do the boring work no-one else wants to do. Overachieve, and maybe they will offer you a real job.

The experience can be super-valuable. On the other hand, so can spending that time working on your portfolio; so it's something of a trade-off.

Well part of the reason for this post was to link to those threads. Are they on CA?
