I guess ... "If dinosaurs never died ... the other animals would be screwed!" !?
The more obvious thing would be putting them in a zoo I guess.
Sounds like fun too. Maybe I'll go for it.

Tried to make the giraffe cartoony/crazy ...
jumping like a rabbit would jump.
Don't think I spent more than 20 minutes.

I know. Sorry. This is definately my last one for a while. I promise. :)

Sig - I love the way the giraffe is running! And the hairnets on the foliage of your healing tree yesterday was a stroke of genius..!

Dixon - whaddya mean last one. That one's hilarious. LOL.

Exactly:
whaddya mean last one
?

The hairnets ... I thought people would wonder what the f... spiderwebs are doing there.
Glad people actually get and like it.
More or less the same with the giraffe.
I fear if I hadn't said anything it would just look like a bad dynamic pose.
I'm not happy with it ... guess I'll redo this one too.

Your's is amazing again. Doesn't look like an early entry.
That expression ... WOW WOW WOW :)

Awsome one dixon.. though i had something similar planned
!?
Hehe and I thought I was crazy.

Swore to myself to keep future dsgs to 1-1.5 hours, must start forcing myself to use the ol noggin.

Anyway, sorry about the cheese, trying to get back into drawing after post-thunderdome burnout. (see what procrastination gets you!)

Makes me wish I'd bought the Dinotopia illustrated book...

Silentbrain canīt get all the cheese for himself..

Queen lyric:
who wants to live forever?
when love must die?

http://img12.photobucket.com/albums/v31/ksm_olsen/Dinolove.jpg

@matt dixon: hehe, thatīs nice.

@signature: it looks to me that the dino is throwing the giraffe, funnier that way imo. :)

@silentbrain: Very cheesy. Well done though.

i couldnt reduce the size of the picture..so photobucket auto resized it into crap. the sign in front of the rock says "for sale"http://img7.photobucket.com/albums/v18/osmus/dinosaurlunch1.bmp

Signature: Thats seriously the funniest fuckin thing i have EVER seen. The way that giraffe is running just cracked me up!

Matt Dixon: *GRINS*

Silentbrain: Nice atmos....her right (our left) cheek is a bit messy and makers her face fall off a bit.....but i like the general mood and its a nice pic.

Olsen: Ive been waiting 4 a chance to tell you how much i dig your work. Really cool stuff comin from your think-tank man, keep it up.

Osmus: Pity about the resize....could have potential, its just a little short on readability.

Darth Saur or just your regular Dino-natrix. Take yer pick!

Amazing! No mediocre image so far.

OLSEN, silentbrain: you guys make it look so easy to create kickass stuff.

OLSEN:
"dino is throwing the giraffe"?
Hehe amazing. Playing with it like a cat plays with a mouse.
Would be even meaner IMO.
Maybe I'll make 2 versions.

Osmus: Yeah the character looks as if there were more details and got lost too.
Are the details worth showing in a detail shot? That should work I guess.
Love the dino who is laying in wait.
That's what it is ... right?

form: Thanks. The dino/animal feel is kinda Nikia inspired.
Especially the tip "become the animal while you draw it" ... I think it really helps.
Your idea is cool and your colors are great.
My first reaction was "WTF ... I know this ... but something isn't right".
Then I remembered what the thread is about.
Guess now I'll always have a weird grin on my face when I see the real thing. Like that: :D
Guess because of the white bg it looks as if he is bathed in light.
So because of the saturation it seems not 100% coherent.
Suggestion would be ... try what effect adding a background has.
Damn ... sounds like a serious Middle Class comment.

There's the zoo version:

form_n_focus - Funny!
Osmus - I wish I could see yours better but I like the idea.
Olsen - I like it. Simple but effective
silentbrain - Cute & sweet :)
Matt Dixon - Nice, again

yep.only after the dinosaurs dissappearing suddenly, mammals and thus humans could evolve.
simple shading study today.tried abit new technique, starting with the darkest shade.didn't prove successful for me.(...or did it?):smirk:

oh well, school's started again,so there ain't so much time either:rolleyes:

First pic in a while: I was thinking about the Civil War with dinos, and this is what happened. Those weird blobs are ment to be gun-smoke, but I skrewed up pretty bad in that respect. And those little guys were hard as hell to draw, and they look like crap anyway. Anyway,

http://img4.photobucket.com/albums/v29/wartman/Dino.jpg

And yes, I was inspired by the book"Dinotopia", but I used no refs for the drawing.

SlugMan
February 16th, 2004, 04:45 PM
gaah! i spent more time trying to make a decent background for this than the dino itself. oh well, i still like how it turned out. good thing i have no school this week...

http://www.mythforums.com/files/SlugMandino.jpg

i started to try using a ref out of a Dinotopia book, but that didn't work out.

cool (funny) concepts everybody :)

just a few things:

carnifex, cool green dino. it dramatically illustrates the total absence of manhood on earth... ;)
for the shading: right way but why did you stop? the hide could use a dozen more shades to look like scales...

talkabout_design, i just dont get it. i see some sitting... man?... with a hairy?... chest?... and red... face?.. and green ...ehm. sorry, explain it to me, please :-\

osmus. on the second, is that mario-hitler or somethin? where are the dinos?

I have nothing to contribute, but I thought some of you might be interested in seeing this:

Some of you mentioned it, I thought I would just post a gallery link for anyone that hasn't seen the book. The paintings are wonderful... Might be good for some inspiration.. :)

Hey people.

Some great entries today.

Signature: Very funny. I love the girrafe, or however that's spelled.

Dixon: great. Love it. Don't stop. Ever.

silentbrain: love the concept. gives me the warm fuzzies.

OLSEN: Oh! even more warm fuzzies! (this one is my wife's fav today)

Osmus: Too bad about Photobucket scrunching the pic. I use them too and have been pretty satisfied. Like the idea of the pic, tho!

form_n_focus: This rocks, guy. I absolutley love it. "Saur Wars". I laugh everytime I think of it.

Signature: your second one is cool too. The zoo would sort of be the feeding grounds, eh? Don't eat the animals!

Amerasu: I like the idea - it would be a lot more fun than those dang tour buses!

Hunger_Artist: Cool. Something about plaid skirts walking the family dino.

Donnerwetter: You *know* they would've if they could've.

Osmus: Took me a moment to figure out what was going with yours - is that an army of people going to stomp the dinos, or is that an army of dinos going to stomp the people?

Thrash: Too funny! Good one.

Jeters: You and I in the same camp on that one.

talkabout_design: For someone that says they don't draw at all, that's a pretty good pic! Keep it up. Draw every day, post it here and ad to the fun!

Carnifex: For a first attempt at starting with the darkes and moving to the lightest, it looks good. Try starting with your mid-tones, then adding shadows and highlights. That's what I do and it seems to work really well. At least *I* think so!

Wart: Don't be so hard on yourself. You did fine. Yours is actually one of my favorites today because it's very dynamic.

SlugMan: I like it! Is that a Sony Dino-man he's wearing?

HexKrak: I think I went to highschool with that guy...

Cybot Floor: Yup. You got it. Those guys play havoc with your bumpers and tires when you run over them.

Okay, I personally don't have time to do one today, but Holden, my 5 year old couldn't pass today's subject up. So here's his. It's a house on a brontosaurus, among other things!

hehe thats what i thought matt!

great pic man. your dsg's are the best from what ive seen, you deliver constant work and its all done very well. i wish my technique was like that, im too used to drawing then coloring.. painting is the way to go

silentbrain >> I like your dino man, great mood

OLSEN >> haha nice sihoette (sp) your work is good and constant as well man, u inspire me.

Amerasu >> Great characters there, I like the idea of the big platform but maybe it should follow the contours of the dino a bit more. define the dinosaur as well. lovin it!

Hunger_Artist >> I like the style for sure! it looks like a watercolor sketch or somethin.

SlugMan >> Those are rad headphones! cool idea

I just hope i have time to finish mine later lol
