Spartan Camp #130 - 50 gestures + Optional "Figure Value Study"

The aim is to produce 50 gestures by Sunday the 28th of March.

- The gestures can be of anything, human, animal, cavorting capybaras.... You can draw full figures, but you can also go for heads, arms, eyes, or anything specific. All media can be used, both digital or traditional. Coloured or black/white. Quick scribbles or long studies. Imagination or referenced. Clothed or nude. Specifics are up to you!

- In addition to this, participants can choose to do an Optional "Figure Value Study", in any medium.
Additional notes on this weeks’ Optional Study:
*will post additional notes tomorrow*
Colour, medium, time frame, any specifics are up to you! Have fun!

50 poses is a challenge, but don't hurry or stress yourself reaching it! Focus on drawing, as practising is the main goal of this exercise.

Critting each other is highly encouraged!! Share constructive criticism, reference and resources!! Let's help each other get better!

Come on soldiers! Flex those muscles!!

First 2 scans from ref, rest imagination. Trying to rely more on feeling rather than thinking too much. Gotta do more!

Hey guys!, Im trying to practice more, guess these don't really count as gestures... most of these were 3-5min from reference. Maybe ill do some more... and do some from imagination.

I should get used to pressure sensitivity and coloring soon... I'd love to be able to control my strokes as well.
I gave up after spending a few hours on these.

forgot these -

shiNIN; Nice horses, especially like the foreshortened one, looking at the viewer. Tough angle. May take a while to really get comfortable with the digital painting, I'm not really used to it either. I think it can be refreshing to paint at a high opacity at times, to really focus on the values. Doing nice on the skin colours. As you may have noticed, dark/'black' skin is a lot more reflective than 'white' skin.

Sealegs; Those are nice poses, you're pretty good at outlining some simple, easy construction and building the whole pose around it. I like the bottom left value study too. Think those are some very successful planes, especially on the face. Simple and effective. Bottomright pose seems weakest, may be a proportional issue.

aprat; Nice! always interesting to see how you 'wrap' those lines around the form. I should be looking for a lifedrawing course as well. I like the liveliness of your figures. Be sure to mix in a few from imagination! for comparison and to practice your own mastery of gesture drawing.
