It needs to be finished. You have to atleast block in the rest of the head. If you block in the larger shapes before you start getting caught up in the details then it will be stronger. Because you went with details first some proportions and structure is off, making it rather 2D. Odd color choice too, it's digital right? It's clear you can render, but you need to render larger and work your way down into the details.
keep it up

I was trying to convey a somewhat loose style. I choose to leave it unfinished because it looks better without the rest. I did block it out first as well it was a paint over of this (http://middleclassgangster.com/sketches/012.gif) but I fixed a few proportion problems. The proportions were done first I don't just start a painting without a guideline I don't think I could do that in the first place. Thank you for the criticism even if it was a little harsh. :P

That sketch you started from still doesn't have the rest of the head. I know you probably can't fit it all on the page, but you should atleast put in some lines to show the crown of the head and bottom of the jaw. Eyes need to come down, the nose seems small, lips a little large, and the chin a little small. Just a little give and take on some parts is all that's needed.
Hey, I only say what I see, and it's always just opinion anyways. Although I feel that sometimes we recieve too much criticism and not enough encouragement. It's hard to keep motivated when all you see is problems (or maybe that's a personal problem, lol).

i completely dissagree with the two posts before this i think the loose right and the detailed left is good ... without the back of the head .. its a neat peice ... i think everyone here thinks to much about rendering ... and complete images .. to finitive this is a nice peice

I agree, leave it like that. Adding the rest of the head would ruin the feel of the picture.
